This Sunday, watch the 2012 Academy Awards in style at fantastic Boston restaurant 28 Degrees! In traditional fashion, we are featuring a special menu for the Oscars. For $15 per person, enjoy an unlimited “parade of food” including Chef’s choice salads, Pork Shumai, Burger Sliders and Fries, Mac n’ Cheese, an assortment of one-of-a-kind brick oven pizzas as well as desserts also chosen by the chef.

Open specially for Valentine’s Day, we invite you to treat that someone special to a romantic evening at 28 Degrees! Our cozy atmosphere is always perfect for a dinner date but this Tuesday, we’ll be adding several special items to our menu just for Valentine’s Day.

From Chef Sebastian, you can enjoy elegant starters like a Crab Salad with avocado, mango and caviar or delicious Burrata served with arugula, mushrooms, truffle oil and toast points. For main courses you are sure to fall in love with, try the Seared Mahi Mahi with fennel, mint roasted purple potatoes and brocolini or Braised Short Ribs with bacon pomme puree, winter root vegetables and roasted shallots. Finally, you’ll be smitten with a delightful Passion Fruit Tiramisu with dry apricots and pineapple.

And to the Academy: “You don’t like me. You really don’t like me.”

LOL! This is what Albert Brooks tweeted shortly after the “Academy” snubbed him when they announced their Oscar nominations. If I were the entire Academy, Brooks would have been a nominee in the BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR category for his creepily menacing performance in DRIVE alongside: Jonah Hill in MONEYBALL (I was thrilled this young comic actor earned a nod for his uptight Ivy League numbers cruncher.), Nick Nolte in WARRIOR, Christopher Plummer in BEGINNERS, and Max Von Sydow in EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE. I would have ditched Kenneth Branagh’s saunter through MY WEEK WITH MARILYN.

In the BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS category I would have included newcomer Shailene Woodley for her deeply believable performance as George Clooney’s teenage daughter in THE DESCENDANTS. I’d have omitted Janet McTeer’s phony baloney turn in ALBERT NOBBS, and left in the rest: Berenice Bejo in THE ARTIST, the ubiquitously and consistently wonderful Jessica Chastain in THE HELP, Octavia Spencer in THE HELP, and finally – YES! – the outrageously funny Melissa McCarthy in BRIDESMAIDS!
